Music is the answer to your problems. I like sounds that are intense enough to make my own thoughts disappear. Whether it's rock, metal, hardcore, punk, industrial or techno, I like mine loud, powerful, blood-pumping and wig-snatching. The next step is trying to break down, or decompose, the most characteristic components of a sonic universe created by an artist.
Wherever I go, I immerse myself into the local scene. Before moving to Berlin, Germany I spent 2 years in Aarhus, Denmark. There, I was exploring the local alternative scene as a contributing author in a digital publication Sound Of Aarhus.
I finished Cognitive Semiotics program in Aarhus University with a MA thesis about expression of anger and sadness in hardcore punk, post-hardcore and emo. Together with my thesis partner we analyzed both the acoustics and the lyrics of over 800 tracks employing descriptive/comparative and big data/quantitative analysis methods. One of the most challenging projects I’ve gotten my hands on so far, it provided a more in-depth view to my favorite genres and sharpened my grasp of their sonic and lyrical expressions.
In spite of moving around a lot, I still have strong musical ties with my home country, Lithuania. Since year 2010, I’ve been a part of Devilstone Festival’s mission to bring relevant rock, metal and alternative artists to Lithuania from all over the globe as their copywriter/social media co-manager.
To try my hand at electronic styles, in 2019 I joined the ambitious team of Revolution Festival driven by the goal to make Lithuanian forests pound with jungle, drum & bass, hardcore, techno and psytrance rhythms. I pitched in with press releases, interviews, and social media copies.
